Hey Everyone,
I had the pleasure of speaking with a representative from the University of East Anglia yesterday, and it sounds like a great opportunity for students potentially looking to study abroad. University of East Anglia is a medium sized university in the relatively small city of Norwich, England. For many, it can be tough to imagine going to college anywhere but in the United States, but it is important to have an open mind, and consider options outside of the states. For one, it can be CONSIDERABLY cheaper to study abroad, and it is a great opportunity to be immersed in a completely different culture and environment, and students can get some of the best education in countries outside the U.S.
Below you will find a few highlights of the University of East Anglia and their website, so take a look, give it some thought, and truly imagine yourself completing your undergraduate years in another part of the world!
- UEA is located in a quintessential English city, very cozy, and easy access to many different European cities. UEA is in Norwich, which is near the water, and only two hours from London (an easy weekend trip). It also is only a few hours from Paris, and is only a 45 minute flight from Amsterdam.
- There is an international airport in Norwich, so east access to travel abroad and to get back to campus.
- Right now the tuition is only about $18,000 per year, which compared to most private universities in the states (around $55,000 for tuition) this is quite the deal!
- Many students receive up to 50% in scholarships bringing the total down even more...so you can spend more money on visiting other European cities!
- Most students graduate within 3 years...again another money saver, and can get you in the workforce earlier!
- They are very strong in the Environmental Sciences, but other top concentrations include: Pharmacy, History, Film & Television Studies, International Development, Bio Medicine, Economics, Engineering, Law, and much more!
- UEA is a world-leading research university with some of the best professors in the world.
- UEA has a great sense of community, and on-campus accommodations are guaranteed throughout your time there.
- UEA is on the Common Application, so it is easy to apply to!

The University of East Anglia may not be a college you have heard of, but it is definitely one you should consider. It really has everything you would need in a college, in a location that is perfect for those who want to explore and experience new cultures during their college tenure. So if you are up to the challenge, give it a chance...I think you will like what you find!
